Applying what you read...

A few days back, when i was devouring the contents of a book, i wondered how much of what i have read i was applying in my day to day life. I am not aware if there was any background processing happening based on what i have read, and if my responses are tuned accordingly.

I have read all kinds of books like autobiographies, gospels, self-help and a whole host of magazines with down-to-earth practical info. Still my reactions to everyday events occur on the spur of the moment. There is no planning or recollecting from what i have read.

I was only able to find solace and comfort by doing a post event reading and identifying my real life situation with the gyan from the text. Now i have determined to apply all the wisdom gathered from the numerous books. Only time has to tell if emotions or wisdom will take precedence during crisis situations .

That is a good start! You can also blog to create awareness among people. We all know that there are many issues to be brought to light.

Welcome to blogging. I've always felt the same too baout books, it goes without saying that real-life situations are different form the world of books. In our day to day existence, only common sense and sound reasoning will see us through and definetely not bookish knowledge. But then that should'nt prevent us from the quest to gain as much knowledge as we can about different issues, which we can get only through reading books.

This happens more if you are an impulsive person! There are people who do not immediately react, giving themselves enough time to think and say/act as per what is correct.
Though I admit this doesn't hold true for all situations.

Yeah Sanju,

I agree with you. I may be impulsive most of the times. Taking time to react is something i am still learning. Thanks for your insight.
