A Day at Peshawri at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai

ITC Grand Chola gave 'Two Complimentary Tickets for Set Lunch at Peshawri' for attending the Indiblogger meet on 27th October. So, i set out yesterday with my mom to explore Peshawri. Orange is the theme colour at Peshawri and the seats and cushion are set in shades of orange. Ethnic cutlery, wall pieces, and lighting create a royal ambiance.

Mr. Arasu, who has been with Peshawri for the past 25 years, welcomed us. He said the menu and recipe of the food at Peshawri has not changed for the past 25 years.  Meeting a loyal employee like Arasu reminded me of the loyalty that existed during the times of the Chola dynasty! Arasu was proud of the fact that many VVIPs knew him by name. Hats off to you Arasu.

The non-veg platter was tasty and had the right amount of spices and seasoning. Mr. Arasu explained how the Dal Makahani was cooked overnight on a low flame. This ensured that the Dal was in shape and did not break and disappear while cooking. The Sheikh Kabab made of minced meat was yummy. The chicken dish made from boneless pieces was soft and supple. The Gulab Jamoons were extra large and the Kulfi was good.

Just like the food and ambiance, the price is also mind boggling and out of the world. But, it is worth it if you want to spend a day like the Chola Maharajas and Afghan queens! For more photos of Peshawri, click here
