Ripples Short Stories Release@Oxford Bookstore

I got to know about the Ripples book release as one of my colleagues Fehmida Zakeer had penned two short stories among the 48 short story collection. So, i wanted to watch her and also witness a book release. People who strolled in at 11:30 a.m for the 11 a.m function anticipating Indian punctuality were in for a disappointment. The function started exactly at 11 a.m. Actor Revathi (she has a boy cut now) and singer Suchitra were the chief guests.

Prashant Karhade of APK publishers had collaborated with 26 talented women writers of India to compile the book Ripples. I read 'The Oleander Flowers' by Fehmida and the story was a subtle presentation of the menace of female infanticide in rural India. The rustic doctor kills two girl babies with oleander sap, but the third baby boy is stillborn and turns blue. I was happy to know that Fehmida's stories were first and third in the table of contents!

Many people bought the book priced Rs.195 and got autographs from the four writers who graced the function. Tea and snacks were served to the guests.
