Let us revel in the fact that the new Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly building is the world's first assembly building that has a Green Certification. A Green certification means that the activities in the building does not pollute the environment and also saves energy!
The assembly complex was conferred with the prestigious LEED-Gold certification earlier this week. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized building certification programme for green buildings in India, run jointly by the Indian and US Green Building Council. The construction project of the new Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Complex was earlier registered with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) for a green rating.
